The bubbly Hansika Motwani is not feeling well for the past few days, even as her second Tamil movie ‘Engeyum Kadhal’ is releasing all over the world in a big way today. “I am suffering from fever for the past few days. The reason could perhaps be the release of ‘Engeyum Kadhal’, as I am expecting a lot out of the film. It’s my best performance till date,” she says. Hansika plays Lolita in ‘Engeyum Kadhal’, a girl of Indian origin who was born and brought up in Paris, the capital city of France. “It is an interesting character and I have got enough scope to perform,” she says. Describing director Prabhu Deva as her elder brother, the actress says she would call her co-star ‘Jayam’ Ravi as Gem Ravi. “Both are nice persons and were very co-operative on the sets,” she recalls. Hansika Motwani is a gaming pro

Actress Hansika Motwani seems to be enjoying her stint as a star on the rise in Kollywood, with two back-to-back releases, Mapillai and Engeyum Kaadhal.

But the hardworking youngster likes to strike a balance between work and play. She recently revealed that she was addicted to a few games on her tablet PC.

"I am a huge fan of Tetris (the brick game) and poker. Whenever I get some free time, I just play these games as they help me relax and unwind instantly."

While the actress hasn't yet latched on to the phenomenal Angry Birds, which has turned into a recreational addiction for many, she does confess that she enjoys facing off with her bro in FIFA on their console back home.

ENGEYUM KAADHAL - MOVIE REVIEW

With Engeyum Kaadhal, Prabhu Deva has tried to narrate yet another story using the most common and ubiquitous phenomenon in the world, Love. The opening titles with backdrop paintings followed by Prabhu Deva’s cameo for ‘Engeyum Kaadhal’ song are pleasant but from then on the movie couldn’t live up to its hype.

The story happens in the romantic city, Paris and revolves around the lives of Kamal (Jeyam Ravi), a young successful entrepreneur who comes in vacation to Paris every year and Kayalvizhi (Hansika Motwani), a music college student playing cello. The story follows the usual clichéd storyline of the hero having no faith in love meets the heroine who falls for him right away and continues her pursuit of love despite knowing his nature. How love blossoms in him and how they finally unite, forms the rest of the story.

The foremost important aspect of any romantic movie is to get you into its blissful ambience. Unfortunately, EK fails to do that from the very beginning in spite of all those exotic locales and soulful music. Adding to this, the characters make an impression only with their chic outfits and fail to connect with you right from the beginning. There is not even one convincing answer for why the lead pair falls in love with each other. The story is very shallow and the naïve and lackluster screenplay makes it still worse. Albeit running for just two hours and a few minutes, the movie still creates that dawdling effect in your mind.

Jayam Ravi as a young businessman fits perfectly in his tailor made role. He even impresses with his dazzling dance moves. Hansika Motwani looks refreshing in her vivid outfits but fails to impress in the acting department. Her dubbing is imbecile and out of sync at many places. Rajusundaram annoys you often under the pretext of making fun. Neither Suman nor Prakashraj have much to play. The only outstanding features of the movie are Nirav Shah’s brilliant cinematography which captures the exquisite and serene beauty of Paris with ease and Harris Jayaraj’s poignant music as almost all songs are pleasant to hear. 

Having a set of potential crew under his management, Prabhu Deva could have honed the screenplay more deftly .The scenes could have been more captivating and the hasty and insipid climax in particular, could have been much better. To sum up in few words, Engeyum Kaadhal couldn’t justify its title despite loaded with many affluent features.

People are calling me 'Lolitha': Hansika

Chubby and bubbly girl Hansika Motwani might not be seen on Telugu screen but she is keeping herself busy in Tamil. Her next Tamil flick 'Engeyum Kaadal' directed by Prabhu Deva is up for release this May 6th. Hansika is on cloud nine because her yet another Tamil film 'Mapillai' released just a month ago.

Hansika claims that the name of her role in this film is 'Lolitha' and that everyone on the sets called her with the same name. She is hopeful that audience will also call her with the same name after this film releases.

"I never worked so hard to play any role like I did for this one. I enjoyed playing 'Lolitha' in this movie. Director Prabhu Deva appreciated my work quite often while shooting for this movie. This love entertainer is releasing in UK too and I heard the advance booking has opened in 11 theatres there. I couldn't have asked for more" Hansika claims.

Jayam Ravi is the hero in this movie. Hansika is currently doing 'Kandireega' with Ram in Telugu.

The man behind a few super successful potboilers is back. The multitasker Prabhu Deva, who juggles many hats at the same time, is resorting to love with his new directorial venture in Tamil Engeyum Kadhal. Prabhu Deva is fresh from basking in the glory his acting credentials received for the Malayalam hit Urumi, in which he played Prithviraj’s faithful Muslim friend.
Engeyum Kadhal was rechristened a few times. It was initially called Paris; presumably keeping in mind the tax rebate thing, it was later renamed as Ich. It had Ich for a working title for a long time until Engeyum Kadhal came along and stuck. Completely shot outside India, Engeyum Kadhal might bring to Tamil its first NRI love story that was riding high for so long in Hindi movies.
Prabhu Deva says that the story of the movie works in the opposite manner when compared to other Tamil movies. In Engeyum Kadhal, it is the girl who falls for the guy and not the other way round according to the director. So it defies the usual logic for starters. Essentially Hansika Motwani gets besotted by Jayam Ravi and the movie revolves around their life and times in Paris. Paris indeed! What other place to plot a love story other than the romance capital of the world.
Songs of Engeyum Kadhal is also picturized in other parts of the world. The crew flew to Sydney to can a few songs and the neighboring beautiful locales of France as well. Engeyum Kadhal’s cast also includes Suman, Raju Sundaram, Marion Arnaud, Aurelien Chevallier and Prabhu Deva himself performing a cameo role.
Engeyum Kadhal is scored by Harris Jeyaraj and consists of 7 sound tracks, distributed by Sony Music label. The album is received fairly positively by critics and fans alike. In addition to music, Harris also has penned lyrics for the song Kulu Kulu Venpani Pola. This song was later added in the track listing and sung by debut singer Arjun.
Produced by the Kalpathy Agoram group, Engeyum Kadhal is releasing this weekend and is distributed by Sun Pictures.

Engeyum Kaadhal: High on expectations

Prabhu Deva's breezy entertainer Engeyum Kaadhal, starring Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani in the lead roles, is all set to grace theatres this Friday. Music composed by Harris Jayaraj is already topping the charts. Reported to be a breezy love story shot completely in Paris (city of love), the film is produced by Kalpathi S. Agoram for his banner AGS Entertainment. The film received a clean 'U' certificate from the Censor Board recently. Sun Picture has bagged the release rights of the film. Kollywood is witnessing a full fledged romantic entertainer after a long time and the expectation meter is quite high.

Destination Europe for Velayudham

Director Jayam Raja has almost completed the shooting of Velayudham, that stars Vijay in the lead role. Haviung completed all talkie portions and a few songs, the director is planning to shoot the remaining two in Europe. Location hunt is reportedly on for it.


Buzz is that producer Aascar Ravichandran has speny huge budget for the movie that features Genelia and Hanshika Motwani as female leads. Reportedly a mass entertainer, the movie has created a lot of hype and expectations among Vijay fans.


Plans are on to hold a grand function soon and released the audio of the movie. Vijay Anthony says, ' it is a racy and a peppy album. Vijay fans would love it'.
